Facts Don’t Persuade People

November 4, 2026 · 1 min read · Article

Facts don’t persuade people.

Logic doesn’t either.

Not at first.

Because before people trust your logic, they have to feel like you understand them.

If they feel judged, they defend.

If they feel understood, they open.

Example:

Someone says:

“We tried cold calling. It doesn’t work for us.”

Some sellers use facts, logic and reason to change minds:

“I understand how you feel. Many people felt the same way. But what they found was cold calling does work if you have the right script, data, targeting, timing and coaching.”

Now you’re arguing.

Try this instead:

“Your reps are getting brushed off all day and nobody is picking up.”

Now they feel heard.

You didn’t agree cold calling is dead.

You understood why they might feel that way.

Big difference.

Then you can ask:

“When reps do speak to someone, where does the call usually break down?”

Now you’re not debating.

You’re exploring.

That’s the psychology.

People don’t change their mind because you dumped more facts on them.

They change when they feel safe enough to look at something differently.

Understanding comes before influence.

Make them feel heard first.

Then maybe they’ll hear you.

Get one new idea like this each week.
